[designed in 2021]: 承 : of hardships
承 part of 起承轉結 represents the hardships & struggles you face during the transition process (the whole phrase together means transition; in this case, the transition of life & transition of love)
Picking up with Namjoon’s UN speech, he continues from this phrase: “My heart stopped…I was maybe nine or ten.” which is from ORUL28’s intro and moves onto hardships. Hardships in the sense where you slowly start to lose your own identity. For children, it’s exceptionally hard to stay true to yourself because as humans, we just want to fit in, but there is a certain point where bits & pieces are taken from you and replaced with a second rate faux version of yourself.
Even for myself there was a period of my life where I just wanted to be cool, or at the very least normal, and had to hide and put away my love for anime & kpop in general since at that time as they weren’t very well accepted in normal American culture. And during this period of time, while I ‘fit in’’, I wasn’t happy. But over time, I’ve grown to realize that I should just no longer care about what others think about me or my hobbies and just fully embrace myself with my whole heart. The process of getting there involved a lot of soul searching and figuring out why I was unhappy & depressed, and it was by no means easy because the first step down this road was recognizing that I wasn’t truly happy. Often, we as human tend to just automatically go in denial that there is something wrong and just force ourselves to believe that everything is ok. But life is not a journey without such hardships
I’ve chosen to symbolize 承 with a cherry blossom branch, not only representing HYYH era but youth as well, where you pick up the discarded scraps of your youth & what used to make you dream & wonder & slowly rebuild that same feeling you once had when you were a child.
