designed in 2018: One of the first things that I noticed when I first listened to tokyo was the usage of train sounds (It like brought me back to like those nostalgic anime opening scenes where you first see the protagonist as a train passes by during the OVA- that kinda thing lol) So I definitely knew I wanted to incorporate a train somewhere into the design somehow. I was initially thinking of doing something like the railroad crossing scene, but ultimately decided to do a train station scene because it can also symbolize the start of a journey - hence the train and the open door as the finalized design. (As it is the first of the series, I thought it would be fitting as well since it’s like you have to board it in order to start your journey through the playlist)

Since the title was also called Tokyo, I also wanted to incorporate some aspects of Japanese culture as well, which is why I chose the sakura blossoms overhead. Out of all of the designs, this one was probably the only one where the draft and the final version did not change much!

[ about the series ] : The main inspiration behind this pin series was my love for the playlist mono. by BTS' RM (Joon) Most of the designs are based off of things that I took from each song on my first listen though along with with a lot of heavy influences from Kim Daily. The design sketch process started back in October 2018, and I finished in Jan 2019! This series and playlist in general mean a lot to me, so I’m super excited to share this project with everyone and I hope you guys enjoy them as much as much as I do!
