[designed in 2021]: 起承轉結 x kintsugi
This a small pin series inspired by three different things: the 起承轉結 concept from bts’ love yourself highlight reel, Namjoon’s UN speech from 2018 & kintsugi which is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold
The main focal point in this pins series will be the kintsugi aspect of it since it’s a metaphor for embracing one’s flaws & imperfections; which also ties into love yourself era w joon’s speech & the highlight reel. It signifies both self discovery but also self acceptance which I feel a lot people struggle with. Do you lose your own identity and lose yourself to the world’s definition of ‘normal’ to fit in? When was it when you first started worrying what others thought of you?

In the BTS highlight LY reel, 起承轉結 in a way, symbolizes love being the transition of life. derived from a chinese proverb, the phrase itself means transition. much like my trivia love pin, this series it highlights the many types of love & different stages we may experience each type of love throughout our lives.
Self love is something that the love yourself series & albums focus on & often come with the phases of self discovery. The kintsugi aspect of the pin comes into play by allowing you to not only love, but also accept yourself for you by embracing your own imperfections & flaws.
I often think about joon’s UN speech since it touches upon all aspects of 起承轉結 from the start being the childlike innocence to the loss of that innocence in the form of conformity & the desire to fit in. It’s the loss of being yourself but then also the beauty of the rediscovery of yourself coming full circle back to the beginning. Whether you are still trying to learn more about yourself or are at a stage in life that you’re happy with who you are as a person, I hope this series can remind you that your own story is unique & that at the end of the day your own happiness should come from within & not be determined by others; love yourself, speak yourself & live yourself
